She’s the one

The Story Behind the Song: “She Is the One”

After 46 years of marriage, you’d think I’d have said everything there is to say to Sharon. But love has a funny way of growing deeper, even after decades together. One quiet evening, I found myself sitting with a cold beer, flipping through old memories in my mind like pages in a well-worn photo album.

I thought about all we’d been through: the laughter, the fights, the healing, and the quiet moments that said more than words ever could.

That’s when the first lines came to me:
“She’s the one—my heart’s desire / A gift from heaven, setting my soul on fire.”
It wasn’t planned, and I wasn’t trying to write anything special. I was just feeling grateful that after all these years, Sharon is still the one I want to be with.

The memories came flooding in Lady and Duke, our ponies, wild and free. And then there is the camper we spent many nights in where we’d sit out front with the ponies and talk, or sometimes say nothing at all.

It’s funny how those little moments end up meaning the most.

Blessings a story

The Story Behind My New Song

Originally, I set out to write a song about Beep Baseball, but as the lyrics came together, it became something much more personal. The song reflects two major tragedies in my life.

Moments that, despite their hardship, turned into unexpected blessings.

Even with all of that, there are still so many blessings I couldn’t fit them all into one song!

I wanted to dedicate a verse to my incredible wife, Sharon, who has been by my side for 46 years, and another to my three loyal Seeing Eye dogs, who have given me freedom and companionship.

Perhaps a new song is coming soon.

Lessons from the wild

Back in the 1990s, I wrote a short story called Lessons from the Wild. Last year, I decided to transform that story into a song, bringing its message to life in a whole new way. Now, I’m taking the next step on this journey, researching how to create a video to pair with the song.

Lyrics are mine, Music by “Music AI” video draft from “Chat GPt”.

She is the one

Check out this song, I wrote the lyrics, but the music and voice came from AI.

While the results are cool, I can’t help but feel uncomfortable about how easy the process was.

It’s concerning to me how quickly technology like this could overshadow genuine creativity. For me, writing the words felt like such a small contribution, it’s hard to take much credit.

Although, besides writing the words there are ways to control the flow, using symbols, formatting, and annotations to provide structure and clarity.

I wonder what true musicians think about this. Does creating with AI stifle creativity? Or is it just another tool to push boundaries?

I find myself wishing for a simpler time. I think I could have been happy living like Jed and Granny. Instead I have spent a lifetime in the city.

Ellis my first Seeing Eye dog

Ellis helped me to get over my snow skiing accident. I lost much strength and balance from hitting the tree. It was a 6 year journey getting back to reasonably competent mobility before getting Ellis and soon after regained my confidence.

Beep Baseball

The years I played Beep baseball were a blast. I developed friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
I wish I could have known then how quick those days would come and go. We should cherishe them all. When you are living the moment as a young person you have no idea how fast life will fly by.
Enjoy the small things as they will be the memories you will cherish forever.
